Indian Culture began in a tiny workshop in Surat, Gujarat — a city famous for textiles, diamonds, and a stubborn love of tradition. We started with rose petals and sandalwood, and a conviction that India's beauty wisdom deserved better than to be diluted, repackaged, or forgotten.
A small story, told honestly. Three chapters, one continuing thread.
It began with a single recipe — passed down for three generations in a family of herbalists. Rose petals from Rajasthan, ground in a stone mortar. Sandalwood from Mysore, dried in the sun. The first batch of Gulab Chandan Facepack went out to neighbours in Surat. Word spread the way good things do — slowly, by ear.
We travelled. Kannauj for rose, Karnataka for sandalwood, Kashmir for saffron, Kerala for turmeric, Rajasthan for fuller's earth. Built direct relationships with growers — many of them women's farming collectives — who still harvest the old way. No middlemen. Fair prices. Real provenance.
Today the Gulab Chandan Facepack is joined by four daily face washes — Ubtan Rose, Ubtan Saffron, Bright Stay Fresh, and the Ultimate Combo. Every product still hand-blended in our Surat workshop. Every ingredient still chosen the same way. The story continues — but the values don't change.

Not "naturally inspired" or "with natural extracts." Genuinely natural. If we wouldn't recognise the ingredient name, neither will your skin. Zero parabens, sulphates or synthetic fragrance.
Every recipe is rooted in Ayurvedic texts and our family's herbal practice. We don't invent new molecules — we honour ingredients that have already passed a thousand-year test.
We buy direct from farmer collectives — many of them women-led — and pay above market rates. We don't ask "what's cheap?" We ask "what's right, and how do we afford it?"
Every jar leaves our small workshop in Surat, Gujarat. Hand-blended, hand-labelled, hand-packed. We could scale faster by outsourcing. We don't, because the ritual deserves better.
